Overview
To ensure seamless integration across multiple systems, we strongly recommend using only alpha-numeric characters for SKUs and barcodes. As your business scales, different platforms may have varying character requirements, making it essential to maintain a uniform format.
Allowed & Not Allowed Characters
To prevent issues with data validation, system compatibility, and potential errors in processing, please adhere to the following character guidelines:
✅ Allowed Characters:
- Letters (A-Z, a-z)
- Numbers (0-9)
- / (Forward Slash)
- \ (Backslash)
- - (Hyphen)
- _ (Underscore)
🚫 Not Allowed Characters:
- ‘ (Apostrophe)
- ” (Quotation Marks)
- * (Asterisk)
- & (Ampersand)
- / (Forward Slash – unless explicitly supported)
- , (Comma)
- | (Pipe)
- Any other special characters that are not alpha-numeric
Why Alpha-Numeric?
Many ERP, WMS, and e-commerce platforms enforce specific character restrictions. By keeping SKUs and barcodes strictly alpha-numeric or only using generally accepted special characters like (- and _), you can:
✔ Ensure compatibility across systems
✔ Reduce errors in inventory and order processing
✔ Improve long-term scalability
