If your order is rejected by MasonHub because there isn't enough inventory, you can force it into backorder status without creating an Oversell Policy. This avoids MasonHub increasing your sellable inventory and eliminates the risk that sellable inventory may be updated on your website while you're completing the order update.
- For Shopify clients, add the order tag forcebackorder and click the Request fulfillment button on the order to resend the fulfillment request to MasonHub if your fulfillment request was declined. You can also modify your Shopify FLOW workflow to add the forcebackorder tag to all orders, though this is not recommended as best practice.
- For MasonHub API clients, pass the value forcebackorder on the backorder_policy attribute on the order.
- If manually creating orders in the MasonHub OMS:
-
- On the Create Order screen, choose Back Order if Out of Stock in the Back Order Policy section.
-
- On the Upload Order file, enter a "Y" in the force_backorder column if you don't have enough inventory to cover the order and want it to be backordered.
