Note:
- MasonHub recommends sending only the parent SKU on the order and allowing the kit to be configured in MasonHub.
- Alternatively, you can send only the components of the kit on the Shopify order.
- See the this article for more information about MasonHub Kits.
If you are using a bundling app that creates an order with a digital-only virtual SKU and the component SKUs, then you must follow the instructions below for MasonHub's app to successfully accept your orders with these SKUs.
1. Configure the Parent Kit SKU
-
Set as a digital-only product:
- Navigate to your parent kit product in Shopify.
- Uncheck “Physical Product” so that the parent kit is treated as a digital product.
-
Why?
- The MasonHub integration does not accept digital products and will ignore it on the order and on SKU create and update.
2. Update the Product Location
-
Remove MasonHub Location Assignment:
- Ensure that the parent kit product is not assigned to the MasonHub location.
-
Why?
- This step is crucial, because MasonHub should only process and ship physical products. Please assign it to a location not in use by other processes. This may mean that you’d need to set up another location in Shopify for this purpose.
3. Enable Auto-Fulfillment for Items
-
Activate Auto Fulfillment:
- Go to your Shopify checkout settings.
- Check the option for auto-fulfilling items at checkout.
-
Why?
- To make sure the digital item is marked fulfilled as it is not being physically shipped.
-
Key point
- If you fulfill multiple warehouse/3PL, skip step 3 as it may auto fulfill your other warehouses orders if they are not a fulfillment service integration.
4. Test Your Configuration
-
Place a Test Order:
- After making the above changes, simulate a purchase that includes a kit.
- Verify that:
- The parent kit is assigned to another location that is not the MasonHub location.
- The parent kit item is auto-fulfilled as expected.
By following these steps, you can ensure that your kitting app works with MasonHub, avoiding conflicts between digital and physical product assignments during order fulfillment.
