A Kit, sometimes called a Product Bundle, is a combination of SKUs that are sold together as one SKU. For example, a Makeup Bag is a SKU you sell that includes SKUs for a makeup bag, lipstick, brush, and nail polish. The Makeup Bag SKU is a kit.
Kits can be set up as either dynamically calculated kits or as assembled kits in MasonHub’s OMS.
Dynamic Kits:
- Should be used when the products (or child SKUs) will also be sold separately.
- MasonHub automatically calculates the total available to sell based on the available quantities of its component SKUs. This is the kit-to-ship-available quantity on the parent kit SKU.
- When a parent SKU is sold, MasonHub picks the individual child SKUs to fulfill the order.
- MasonHub decrements inventory in Shopify for the kit's parent SKU and child SKUs when it ships.
Assembled Kits (aka pre-kitted):
- Should be used when the products (or child SKUs) will only be sold in the bundle and will never be sold individually.
- MasonHub assembles, or builds inventory, for the kit from component child SKUs when you submit a Work Order. You can review this article for information on creating Work Orders.
- When a parent SKU is sold, MasonHub picks the parent kit SKU to fulfill the order.
- MasonHub decrements inventory in Shopify for the parent kit SKU. The components were already decremented from inventory when the Work Order was completed.
