Goal: Technical compliance to prevent sync errors.
To ensure seamless integration between Shopify and MasonHub, your SKU strings must adhere to the following technical standards. To prevent issues with data validation, system compatibility, and potential errors in processing, please adhere to these character guidelines:
- Maximum Length: 40 characters.
- Case Sensitivity: SKUs are case-sensitive. We strongly recommend using ALL CAPS for consistency across your tech stack.
Allowed & Not Allowed Characters
✅ Allowed Characters:
- Letters (A-Z, a-z)
- Numbers (0-9)
- / (Forward Slash)
- \ (Backslash)
- (Hyphen)
- _ (Underscore)
🚫 Not Allowed Characters:
- ‘ (Apostrophe)
- ” (Quotation Marks)
- (Asterisk)
- & (Ampersand)
- , (Comma)
- | (Pipe)
- Any other special characters that are not alpha-numeric (e.g., !, @, #, $, %)
Why Alpha-Numeric?
Many ERP, WMS, and e-commerce platforms enforce specific character restrictions. By keeping SKUs and barcodes strictly alpha-numeric or only using generally accepted special characters like hyphens (-) and underscores (_), you can:
- Ensure compatibility across systems.
- Reduce errors in inventory and order processing.
- Improve long-term scalability.
